Child flown to SCUH after near-drowning at Inskip Point

One family’s Australia Day trip to the Cooloola Coast came terrifyingly close to becoming a tragedy.

A two-year-old child has been flown to hospital after being found floating in water “for an unknown period” at Inskip Point.

Paramedics and the RACQ LifeFlight were called to the scene of the incident at Inskip Point Rd about 5.25pm.

A QAS spokeswoman said it was not known how long the child had been in the water.

He was sitting up and coughing shortly after being found, she said, and after being treated by paramedics he was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition as a precaution.
