Plans revealed for new bungee fitness gym in Gympie by Gritt ‘n’ Gravity

An empty shop under Oakvale Homes is in line to be given new business life, but with a surprising new twist. Find out what the developers have planned.

Wide Bay property market scorching hot

An empty shop under underneath Oakvale Homes has been earmarked for a surprising new venture with plans to transform the space into a bungee fitness gym.

Developer Ashley Johnson, from Gritt ‘n’ Gravity, has asked Gympie Regional Council for approval to redevelop the ground floor underneath Oakvale Homes at the intersection of Cross Street and the Bruce Hwy into the new centre.

Bungee fitness is a “unique fitness experience” involving a bungee harness reducing 60 to 80 per cent body weight in order to fly through the air for a “moderate to high intensity” workout, the development application stated.

The cords will be attached to two steel beams affixed to the concrete ceiling.

The application material published on the council’s development website claims, if approved, classes will run 45 minutes long with up to 10 participants per session on weekdays and occasionally on weekends.

Classes will be available for women with all fitness abilities 18 years and over.

Bungee dance, child minding and aerial yoga, are possible future expansion opportunities for the business, the application says.

The gym will be directly opposite from Gympie Snap Fitness on the Bruce Hwy.
