Up and coming Queensland farmers have starred in a highlight event on the first day of the Gympie Show.
Fifteen teams took up the Young Farmer challenge with competitors ageing from 10 to young-at-heart over 18’s.
The mood was tense as the swags buckle glitched, wheelbarrow racers swerved around cow pats and hands even tried to find small objects in an artificial insemination simulation.
Finally, the teams had to work together to build a pen around hay and then move the hay stack out of the pen.
The finale was a three-legged race where both contestants jumped into the swags as a final touchdown – testing the co-ordination of each duo.
The challenge was humorously hosted by Big Farmer Andy, a TikTok famous dairy farming sensation who is passionate about getting young people involved in life on the land.
“I find farming challenging at times, but I have never done a Young Farmer challenge before,” he said
