Benjamin Dance will have to sit the next few beach trips out after the Howard hoon was busted fishtailing on Teewah Beach.

The 18-year-old was charged amid a police crackdown on dangerous driving on July 31 this year.

He pleaded guilty in Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday to driving without due care and attention.

The court heard police were patrolling Teewah Beach at 5pm on July 31, 2021, when they spotted Dance swerving the back end of his car left to right while driving up the beach.

When questioned, Dance admitted to fishtailing up the beach and said he “was just having a bit of fun.”

His lawyer told the court Dance had been working as a metal fabricator but was forced to leave his position due to his inability to drive.

“His number plates have been suspended so he hasn't been driving for that period of time,” he said.

“He is a contributing member of society having worked since leaving high school, he does have the capacity to pay a fine and has the support of his mother and father who are in court today.”

Magistrate Chris Callaghan said Dance already had one demerit point and the latest offence would take out three more points.

“(That) will take him up to four points and he will lose his licence for three months,” Mr Callaghan said.

“It's a pretty silly thing to do because you can lose control and if you do lose control of the car it could roll and you could crash into another car.”

Dance was fined $350. A conviction was not recorded.
