Ben and Bronson Buggy, Callum McClay to be sentenced over Hawkins stabbing
Five men connected to the alleged stabbing of Danny Hawkins have had developments in their cases after a Gympie District Court mention. Here’s what happened.

Three men involved in the alleged stabbing of Gympie boxer Danny Hawkins are to be sentenced more than a year after the attack at the boxer’s home.
Mr Hawkins suffered several stab wounds and other injuries and was flown to hospital in Brisbane after the alleged attack in the front yard of his Parsons Rd home on September 18, 2021.
Ben Colin Buggy, Bronson Israel Buggy and Callum Robert McClay will be sentenced on February 3 in the Gympie District Court.
Alec Campbell Jardine will face a trial starting March 20 in the same court on one count of grievous bodily harm.
His bail has been enlarged.
Israel Colin Buggy has been remanded in custody and his matter has been adjourned to March 20. He is charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
The five men were not required to appear for their mention in the court on Monday, January 30.
McClay, who pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm, was granted bail in Gympie Magistrates Court on April 1, 2022.
Ben Colin Buggy and Bronson Israel Buggy both pleaded guilty to one count of grievous bodily harm on March 31, 2022.
They were granted bail on the downgraded charge of grievous bodily harm after a debate between the prosecution and the Buggys’ defence lawyer, Michael McMillan.
Police prosecutor Michael Phillips previously told the court a series of text messages between Israel Buggy and Mr Hawkins triggered the alleged attack.
He alleged Mr Buggy threatened to kill Mr Hawkins, before he allegedly arrived at the alleged victim’s Parsons Rd home with his two sons, Ben and Bronson Buggy, as well as Mr Jardine and Mr McClay.
