Beefy’s Pies opens new store at Traveston Service Centre

One of Queensland’s most popular food franchises has doubled its presence in the region, and there are still a few jobs up for grabs.

One of Queensland’s favourite meat pie sellers has beefed up their presence in the Gympie region, and served up a stack of new jobs.

Beefy’s Pies has thrown open the doors of a new store at the new $14 million Traveston Service Centre, joining the shop on the Bruce Highway near Gympie Central Shopping Centre as the franchise’s second restaurant in the region.

More than 20 new jobs have arrived with the store’s opening, with some staff moving across to Traveston from the Gympie shop.

Beefy’s managing director Mark Hobb’s said there were no plans to shut that restaurant.

“Having two stores will only increase our customers’ appetite for Beefy’s,” Mr Hobbs said.

“A customer travelling north who grabs a Beefy’s at Traveston will be tempted to grab a Beefy’s at Gympie on their southbound journey.”

Mr Hobbs said Traveston was picked for its convenience.

“Beefy’s Gympie is well supported by locals and travellers and Traveston provides an equally convenient opportunity for them to grab their favourite pie and coffee on the go,” he said.

“The two stores are about 20 minutes apart and on opposite sides of the road, so now it’s very easy to grab a Beefy’s no matter the direction of travel.”

Traveston store manager Hester Moore said the new shop was already a hit with Mary Valley residents who relished no longer having to drive into the city.

Mrs Moore, one of several staff members who had transferred across from Gympie, said there was still room for more help behind the counter.

“We really need some more juniors,” she said.

Mrs Moore said anyone wishing to apply could do so either online or in the store.
