Gympie musician Alison Jensen has been nominated for yet another award, the ICMA’s Patti McKinnon Encouragement Award, given to a young, rising artist in the Australian or New Zealand Country Music Industry.
Miss Jensen, who recently won the people’s choice at the Rise Up Showcase at Winton’s Way Out West Festival, said she felt honoured to be nominated for another award.
“As a nominee I feel I have already won in so many ways,” she said.
“To be acknowledged within the Australian and New Zealand Country Music Industry among other talented artists is an achievement in itself.
“If I was fortunate enough to win the award, it would be a stepping stone in my musical career.”
Miss Jensen told The Gympie Times she, like many other musicians, struggled through the restrictions that 2020 brought to the live music industry.
“Overcoming the restrictions on live music and getting back to gigs has been amazing,” she said.
“This year has been exciting and has taken me down musical paths I thought were future endeavours.
“I am so grateful to have been asked to perform at a wedding of close friends of mine, which has opened an avenue for future wedding gigs, which I value being a part of.”
Miss Jensen thanked her family, fiance, close friends and social media followers for always being supportive of her journey and said there was more excitement ahead.
