Aerial Dreaming Circus School voted Gympie’s top dance school 2024

We reveal the top three Gympie dance schools of 2024 as voted by our readers, and talk with the third generation circus performer who runs Aerial Dreaming, the school voted number one in Gympie for 2024.

Aerial Dreaming Circus School has been voted Gympie’s top dance school of 2024, receiving 33 per cent of votes in a recent poll of Gympie Times subscribers.

Runner-up was Dance Plus on 21 per cent and coming in third was Focus on Dance, which had 16 per cent of the vote.

Third generation circus performer Bec Holliday has owned and run Aerial Dreaming for the past four years.

She moved to Gympie 13 years ago, and had had an interest in learning aerial skills, but found “there was nowhere to do it”.

When Aerial Dreaming opened up six years ago she undertook training from the previous owner, and then bought the business from her.

“When I bought it, it was tiny,” Mrs Holliday said this week.

“It’s not just a school; it’s like a home for a lot of people,” she said.

Located in Wadell Road, Aerial Dreaming now has more than 300 students aged between three and 60, with 10 staff members helping to run 64 classes, seven days a week.

The part Mrs Holliday enjoys most about her work is “watching people become amazing”.

A significant highlight in 2023 was winning runner-up in the Gympie Chamber of Commerce Awards Business of the Year.

Aerial Dreaming Circus School’s next open day will take place on March 23, 12-2pm. Attendees are invited to try out the apparatus and watch performances from selected students and coaches.

A small team of students will perform at Easter on Mary on March 27.
