20 locations across Gympie where you can get the Covid vaccine

Maloufs pharmacy on the Southside is one of 20 chemists, medical clinics and hubs across the Gympie region to now offer the Covid vaccine to Gympie region residents.

It was a busy morning in Malouf’s Pharmacy on the Southside on Tuesday morning, as people lined up to receive their first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Malouf’s Southside was one of 20 pharmacies, medical clinics and hubs across the region administering Covid jabs on Tuesday (see the image below).

On the Cooloola Coast there are five locations: Cooloola Coast General Practice, Cooloola Coast General Practice Cooloola Cove, Cooloola Pharmacy, Rainbow Beach Pharmacy and The Sands Centre Pharmacy.

Malouf’s Southside Pharmacy manager Hilary Andrews said the pharmacy had 100 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine ready to go, and would order more as vaccination rollout continued.

“That’s going to get us through our first week,” he said. “And we’ll put in an order again at the end of the week depending on how many people turn up,” he said.

He said a second order of 300 doses will be delivered next week, and the pharmacy had already vaccinated five people on Tuesday morning with more people expected to walk in throughout the day.

A Covid Vaccine Hub at the Gympie Civic Centre also opened on Tuesday morning, with more than 400 doses of the vaccine ready to be administered.

The Hub, located on Mellor St, will be able to vaccinate up to 2500 people each week, with a goal of delivering 30,000 doses by its closing date in October.

Mr Andrews said he felt the vaccine program was a step in the right direction for the Gympie community.

“The more people that get vaccinated, the better it’s going to be for the whole community,”

Mr Andrews said anyone who wanted to register for the jab needed to first check their eligibility online, and to register for a shot via the website.

“They can also call the pharmacy or come into the pharmacy,” he said.
