Popular Greenmount beach, where real estate agent Nick Slater, 45, was killed by a great white on September 7, was closed for about an hour.

The shark was seen about 600m off the beach, but the size and type of shark was not known.

They used two jet skis and four IRBS to chase the creature from the area.

Greenmount beach has since reopened.

A 1m shark was also spotted at Burleigh Heads.

Coast beaches have been packed for the long weekend and last day of the school holidays.
