RUGBY league great Gorden Tallis is having his third child at the age of 45 with his new partner.
The former Broncos star player and partner Jemma Elder are expecting a child together in the next six weeks.
Elder has a seven-year-old son from a previous relationship while Tallis has two sons, aged 13 and 14, with his ex-wife.
“I don’t think we are as good looking or as famous as the Brady Bunch,” Tallis told Confidential at The Star Magic Millions.
“Life is different and family can be hard and children can be challenging at times. We have a new journey ahead of us and we are just looking forward to the day this little baby gets to meet dad and mum.”
Tallis and Elder, who have been together for three years but only went public less than six months ago, have chosen not to find out the sex of the child.
The couple met at Magic Millions a number of years ago.
“If it wasn’t a big enough surprise as it was being 45 and having another baby, and Jemma being 40 and falling pregnant, the other part I think we can wait,” he said.
“It is not our first rodeo so I think we can wait for the sex of the baby.”
Elder is the daughter of former Labor politician Jim Elder and works as managing director of Personalised Plates in Queensland.
As for being a hands on dad, Tallis added: “I have done nappies before. I am not saying that they are the most enjoyable thing but watching your kids grow now, their journey in life doing what they want to do is the rewarding part.”
