Gold Coast traffic: Pacific Motorway gridlock hours after crash
The Pacific Motorway was heavily congested from Logan to the Gold Coast over six hours after an accident on the southern stretch.

Major traffic delays were still being felt hours after a crash on the Pacific Motorway at Oxenford on the Gold Coast on Thursday morning caused chaos and left a motorcyclist in hospital with critical injuries.
The initial crash involved a motorcycle crashing into a guardrail on the southbound stretch of the motorway at 11.33am, resulting in multiple lane closures while the crash was cleared.
Ambulance crews treated the rider of the motorbike, a 24-year-old Bonogin man, for serious injuries at the scene before taking him to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where his condition was upgraded to critical.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash and is appealing for witnesses or those with dashcam footage to contact Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Authorities worked to clear the roadway and reopened all southbound lanes by 1.30pm, but queued traffic was unable to clear before the afternoon’s peak hour moved in.
By 5.35pm, almost the entire stretch of the Pacific Motorway between Springwood at Logan and the Gold Coast was severely congested, adding up to 40 minutes to southern commutes.
