GOLD Coast developer George Mastrocostas isn’t one to sit idly by.

His Aniko Group is diversifying its development portfolio and extending its reach in southeast Queensland with plans for a major residential subdivision at Ripley Valley.

The Gold Coast-based company, founded by seasoned residential and commercial developer, George Mastrocostas, has lodged a development application with the Ipswich City Council to create a 229-lot residential community on a 24.6ha site in the Ripley Valley Priority Development Area.

The move comes hot on the heels on selling all the apartments five months ahead of schedule in his $55 million Three72 Marine project on the Gold Coast more than five months ahead of completion.

With partner Glen Philips he also recently put the finishing touches on his $25 million

automotive showroom along Southport’s Ferry Rd which has been leased to Autosports group which sell a range of luxury cars.

Out at Ripley, the proposed development, to be delivered over five stages, will comprise diverse housing lots averaging 400sq m.

About a third of the site, which is bounded by Barrams Rd and Cumner Rd at White Rock, is dedicated to open space as Aniko Group takes a masterplanned approach to its latest project.

This will include a 5670sq m neighbourhood recreation park which will link up with two large-scale linear parks that will offer an extra layer of extended green space totalling more than 8.2ha across the new community.

TWO commercial property agencies north of Brisbane have joined forces.

Ray White Commercial Northern Corridor Group has linked up with the Pine Rivers office to become one of the largest commercial real estate agencies on the northern side of Brisbane, with offices in Brendale, Morayfield and Mooloolaba.

The group will now service from north Brisbane through to Noosa, with Michael Shadforth and Chris Massie leading the team.

Ray White Group director Dan White said the growth of the northern corridor was proof the time was right for offices to join forces to meet the demands of the future.

“We recognise this will be one of the country’s more significant precincts for commercial property over the coming decade and the White family is excited to have some of our most proven agents coming together to meet that opportunity as a team,” he said.

THE Australian Insitute of Architects has warned people to beware of “pretenders” in their profession after a Sunshine Coast man was found guilty of offences against the Architects Act.

A court last month found Christopher Peter Clout and Chris Clout Design Pty Ltd had committed “holding out” offences under the Act.

Queensland law prohibits individuals and companies from holding out to be an architect, use the title “architect” or to use the words “architectural services” or “architectural design services” unless they are a registered architect with the Board of Architects of Queensland.

Queensland chapter president Paul Trotter said the law ensures only those individuals who have achieved the correct, extensive qualifications and registration can call themselves architects.

“Not only does this protect the public from misrepresentations by unqualified or unregistered operators, it is essential to maintaining the value and integrity of the architectural profession,” he said.

“Ours is a respected and trusted profession and we will continue to protect and defend our hard-earned reputation against any and all pretenders.

“The community must have confidence that when they commission the services of an architect, that is exactly what they are getting — a highly qualified, registered professional.”

It was the second successful prosecution in the Brisbane Magistrates Court by the BOAQ this year for “holding out” offences.
