Community groups, businesses and members of the public are all coming together to raise money for a ten-year-old boy who is expected to spend more than six months in hospital after a horrific helicopter crash.
Nicholas Tadros has been in hospital since two SeaWorld helicopters collided on January 2, killing four people.
His mother, Vanessa Tadros, was one of the victims, since the incident his father Simon Tadros has been by his son’s side unable to work.
On Monday, Andrew Nasr from Kazoku Martial Arts Academy, created a GoFundMe to help their student. The GoFundMe has raised more than $300,000.
“His father Simon who is a truck driver has been by his side in the hospital ever since, unable to work. His bills are mounting,” Mr Nasr said.
“Nicholas is expected to spend over six months in hospital and will need ongoing medical support for the rest of his life.
“Nicholas loves Karate and, Nicholas and Simon need Australia’s help to fight this together.”
A GoFundMe was first created for Ms Tadros’ funeral but after his father, Simon Tadros, spoke to A Current Affair on Monday Night, a second one was created.
“Previous donations were used for Vanessa’s funeral but now it’s about helping Nicky who needs our support,” Mr Nasr said.
On Monday, Mr Tadros, told A Current Affair, his priority and focus remained on his son
“I have to concentrate on my son that’s all I can focus on, I love that kid so much,” he said.
Groups across Australia have also begun to show their support.
Glenmore Park Brumbies JRLFC will have a bucket collecting cash donations on Thursday night.
“The Tadros family are a local family with Nicholas attending a school in the area so we know that this has affected many families within the Brumbies personally,” Glenmore Park Brumbies posted.
“We encourage you if you can, to dig deep either by donating directly or donating some cash at our clothing launch between 5pm and 7.”
