A Gladstone region soccer club is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Clinton Soccer Club paid tribute to life member Shirley Carroll for her commitment to the club since the 1980s.
Mrs Carroll played an integral part in the club’s early history and was remembered as the club artist who drew the dinosaur logo on the juniors’ kit.
“Clinton’s sincere sympathy and thoughts go out to the Carroll family – Dan, Chris, Tim and Paul, on the passing of Life Member Shirley Carroll,” the soccer club said via social media.
“Some will remember Shirl as the club artist who did the drawings on the early t-shirts that were the club’s first junior team strips.
“A number of junior teams like the Clinton Dinosaurs in the photo wore shirts featuring some of Shirls handiwork.”
In 1985, Mrs Carroll was awarded life membership for her outstanding contribution to the junior section.
Her funeral was held at Ross Funerals Crematorium on Monday July 12. She was 74 years old.
