Rescue helicopter winches man from ship 112km from Gladstone

A middle-aged man has been flown to hospital after suffering from a possible infection while on a ship off Gladstone.

According to RACQ Capricorn Rescue, the man was about 112km off the coast of Gladstone when he suffered a potential internal infection.

The rescue helicopter left at 11.15am on February 2.

A Rescue Crew Officer, a paramedic and a doctor were winched onto the ship’s deck.

After the patient was assessed, he was winched up to the helicopter and flown to Rockhampton Hospital.

He is in a stable condition.
