An out-of-control vegetation fire has emergency services alarmed as strong winds have placed a nearby cattle station in danger and a smoke warning has been issued for the region.

About 1.34pm Thursday, Queensland Fire and Emergency Crews responded to reports of a vegetation fire burning in the Boyne Valley near Dawes National Park.

Four fire crews are currently responding to the active incident with crews accessing a Mount Hector Rd property about 2.30pm.

It is understood Queensland Police are also at the scene and an evacuation of the cattle property is underway.

The fire is about 40km west of Miriam Vale.

QFES issued a smoke warning at 4.19pm for the Boyne Valley and surrounding areas.

The current advice to residents is to avoid driving through smoke where possible, be aware of firefighters, stay indoors, and close windows and doors.

Residents should also keep respiratory medication close by.

QFES advise if residents have a bushfire survival plan, refer to it now.

A QFES spokeswoman said all persons were accounted for but crews were still fighting the blaze as of 4.15pm.

A number of other rural fire crew, understood to be travelling from the Many Peaks Rural Fire Brigade are en route as eight crews are now responding to the blaze.

More to come.
