Council set to auction off 7 Gladstone homes

GLADSTONE Regional Council is set to sell seven properties at auction because the owners of the properties have refused to pay their rates.

GLADSTONE Regional Council is set to sell seven properties at auction because the owners of the properties have refused to pay their rates.

The properties range from two homes in Clinton, hectares in Calliope, Bracewell and Agnes Water, a home in New Auckland and a big property in Beecher.

The decision to sell the land comes after the owners have refused to pay the overdue rates for a period of up to three years and after two official warnings from the council the rates have still not been paid.

When the list was released in December there were 52 properties listed owing a total of almost $600,000.

Since then all but these seven have paid the overdue rates leaving a remaining $103,641 to be paid to the council.

The public auction has been set for Thursday, April 28 at 11am at Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre.

The full payment for the properties will be due by 12pm on Thursday, May 12.
