A developer who first eyed off a prime slice of Agnes Water real estate five years ago has signalled an appetite to proceed with a ritzy new tourism offering.
Friday Investments was yesterday (Wednesday, June 23) given a four-year extension by Gladstone Regional Council of the approval they sought in December 2016 and were granted in July 2017 which was set to expire next month.
The developer had been granted permission for the site and floor plans and material change of use required for 16 boutique holiday apartments on the waterfront at 11-17 The Promenade.
Friday Investments will still need to seek a development permit and approval for building, plumbing and drainage plans to proceed with the project.
However according to the letter to council penned by Zone Planning Group director Stephen Enders on behalf of his client Friday Investments, the developers were extremely keen to proceed.
“The request for a four-year extension to the currency period for this approval is to account for changes in the residential market in Gladstone and Agnes Water since the approval was granted in 2017,” Mr Enders wrote.
“The residential market is now improving and the Applicant, Friday Investments Pty Ltd, is committed to carrying out the development in accordance with the Development Approval.
The four year extension will allow the Applicant to carry out the development under the extant Development Approval.”
The site of the proposed development is located next door to the regularly booked out holiday townhouses at Agnes Sails.
The Gladstone Observer approached Friday Investments for comment via Mr Enders but no reply was received.
