A Gladstone mother has faced court for a string of offences including a sly theft in a sports club gaming room.

Shayna Maud Gloria Doyle, 27, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 7 to fraud, drug and utensils possession and driving an uninsured, unregistered and defective vehicle while demerit point disqualified.

The court heard Doyle’s first offences happened on June 28, when police intercepted her driving at Barney Point about 1.15am.

Checks on the vehicle showed it was unregistered and uninsured, and police saw it had a defective front headlight.

Doyle was also unlicensed.

Then on July 2, about 3.45am, Doyle was a passenger in a car that was stopped by police in South Gladstone.

During a search, officers found her with .23g of methamphetamine and a pipe which she said she had used “to smoke ice.”

The last in Doyle’s series of offences happened on July 21, about 8pm.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said Doyle was playing poker machines at Yaralla Sports Club when a man won $50.50 on his machine.

Sgt Hoskins said another patron told the man to go and get a sports club membership card to withdraw the money.

The man left his machine unattended to do this, and CCTV footage captured Doyle putting her membership card into his machine and withdrawing his money.

Sgt Hoskins said when Doyle was later confronted by staff, she made admissions to withdrawing the money but said she “no longer had it.”

The court heard Doyle had previously been on a suspended sentence for an unrelated matter.

Solicitor Bianca Wieland said Doyle, had the meth only for personal use and she was intoxicated when she committed the fraud offence.

Acting Magistrate Athol Kennedy placed Doyle on 12 months’ probation, fined her $300, disqualified her from driving for six months, and ordered she pay $50.50 restitution.
