A repeat offender with an awful traffic history has lost his car.
Robert John Taylor, 33, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to unregistered and uninsured driving in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.
The court heard police intercepted Taylor driving a Holden Commodore on Yarroon Street, Gladstone Central on July 24, about 12.25am.
Police checks on Taylor’s registration revealed he was driving an unregistered and therefore uninsured car.
When questioned Taylor stated he was not the registered owner of the car but had been driving it for a month.
He further stated he was not aware the car was both unregistered and uninsured.
Due to Taylor’s offending being his fourth type two offence, his car was forfeited and towed from the scene.
Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and fined Taylor $900. A conviction was recorded.
Type 2 offences include:
- driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle
- unlicensed driving
- a high range drink driving offence where your blood alcohol content is 0.15% or over, or you fail to provide a blood or breath specimen
- exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km an hour
- driving an illegally modified vehicle not complying with prescribed sections of the vehicle standards and safety
- driving while under a 24 hour suspension.
