Police units arrest alleged DV offender at Gladstone property

Several police units and officers from two towns four hours apart banded together to track down an alleged DV perpetrator accused of committing crimes over a six-month period. VIDEO

Police have charged a 30-year-old Gladstone man with a range serious domestic violence offences including assault occasioning bodily harm following his arrest at a Wurdong Heights property.

Officers from the Gladstone Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Person Unit, supported by the Gladstone Dog Squad, Tannum Sands Police, Gladstone Police and Emerald Police arrested the man on June 17 without incident following investigations into alleged serious domestic violence incidents that occurred in Gladstone.

Police will allege the incidents occurred between December 2024 and June 2025.

The 30-year-old man from Wurdong Heights has been charged with nine offences, including four counts of common assault (domestic violence), three counts of assaults occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence), and one count each of using a mobile phone to menace and harass, and coercive control.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear at Gladstone Magistrates Court on July 29.

Acting Inspector Glen Fletcher said officers in the Capricornia District would continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to domestic violence offences.

“Domestic and Family Violence has no place in our communities, and our investigators are dedicated to ensuring victims are supported and offenders are held to account,” Acting Inspector Fletcher said.
