“I’m back again”.

With those three words, serial booze thief Nathan Robert David Ezekiela made his intentions clear to Liquorland Gladstone staff.

Having previously been dealt with in courts in January and May for stealing alcohol from this very same store, he struck again multiple times in July.

Ezekiela, 37, appeared in custody in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to three counts of entering premises and committing an indictable offence.

The court heard this latest offending, where Ezekiela went into the store and helped himself to packs of bourbon cans, happened on different days.

On one of those occasions, he told a Liquorland staff member in the store: “I’m back again.”

In total, he stole $345 worth of alcohol.

All of these offences happened while Ezekiela was on a suspended sentence.

The court heard Ezekiela had a nine-page criminal history which was “littered with” dishonesty and drug offences.

Solicitor Stephen White said Ezekiela was “extremely apologetic” for his latest offending.

“He wishes to apologise to Liquorland,” Mr White said.

Magistrate Mary Buchanan sentenced Ezekiela to three months’ jail, declared 37 days’ pre-sentence custody as time already served, activated the suspended sentence to be served cumulatively, and fixed immediate parole eligibility.

A restitution order was also made.

Convictions were recorded.
