A mother and former receptionist has faced court for drug offences and theft from a Gladstone Bunnings store.

Marion Lee Kay, 24, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on May 8 to possessing cannabis, methamphetamines and drug utensils, as well as stealing.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said on January 2, police intercepted a vehicle at Gladstone and conducted a search.

Sgt Hoskins said Kay was a passenger and she was found in possession of a clip-seal bag containing 1g of cannabis.

Then on January 28, about 5.20pm, Kay was seen going into Gladstone Bunnings with two males, the court heard.

Sgt Hoskins said Kay had a large shoulder bag and in-store security camera footage showed her putting a $79 CCTV camera in her bag along with several items from the tools section.

Sgt Hoskins said after Bunnings staff approached Kay and asked to look in her bag, she abused them and walked out of the store with the stolen items.

Then on February 10, about 7.15pm, police found Kay in a caravan at West Gladstone where she was arrested for other matters, the court heard.

Sgt Hoskins said during a search at the watchhouse, police found Kay in possession of a clip-seal bag containing .01g of amphetamine.

Then on February 11, about 11pm, police saw Kay and two males walking at a NightOwl centre at Gladstone, the court heard.

Sgt Hoskins said all three people were detained for a search and Kay was found in possession of a glass pipe that she said she had used to smoke meth, and a cone piece.

The court heard Kay was on probation at the time of her offending and her criminal history was “all property and drug-related offending.”

Solicitor Bianca Wieland said Kay, who was born in Dalby, was a mother of two who had worked as a receptionist for five years until recently.

Ms Wieland said Kay was remorseful for her offending and she had engaged in drug rehabilitation.

Acting Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Kay $1000 and convictions were recorded.
