Krystal Anne Parks threw ice cubes at a police officer who was standing guard at a popular Gladstone nightspot

The officer sustained a cut to his eye as a result of the intoxicated woman’s careless actions.

A woman let a rowdy nightclub session get the better of her when she threw ice cubes at a police officer standing guard outside, a court has heard.

Krystal Anne Parks, 34, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday to assaulting a police officer.

Prosecutor Kelvin Boyd told the court police attended Mie Place nightclub at 12.35am on July 4, 2021, after reports a woman collapsed.

Police located the woman and stood guard while paramedics treated her.

At 12.40am an officer was struck in the face near is eye with ice cubes, with several club patrons subsequently questioned.

Police received CCTV footage from the club, which clearly showed Parks reach into a glass, pick out a hand full of ice and throw it over the balcony at the officer then run back inside the club.

On July 22 police attended Parks’ residence and spoke with her in relation to the incident.

Parks told police she did not recall the incident but admitted to being at Mie Place on the night.

When shown CCTV footage, Parks said it was her who threw the ice but did not mean to hurt the officer.

Parks’ duty lawyer Bianca Wieland said her client rarely drank alcohol, however, had a lot that night.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey fined Parks $300. A conviction was recorded.
