A Central Queensland man was caught growing cannabis at his rural property on numerous occasions, a court has heard.

Kenneth John Pershouse, 43, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on November 15 to 16 charges including multiple counts of producing and possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard that police found drugs, including cannabis plants, at Pershouse’s Ambrose property during separate raids.

During one of the raids, they seized 10 mature cannabis plants, 103.4g of cannabis, as well as cannabis seeds.

A small amount of methamphetamine was also found.

The court heard that Pershouse had a one-page criminal history.

Solicitor Jun Pepito said Pershouse was a father of two who had previously worked as a sandblaster, but he had been unemployed since 2021.

Mr Pepito explained that Pershouse had suffered trauma in his teenage years, with his mother being murdered when he was just 16 years of age.

Magistrate Mary Buchanan placed Pershouse on 15 months’ probation and fined him $600.

Convictions were recorded.
