A Central Queensland woman has faced court after she was busted with a taser in her handbag.
Kelly Maree Jarmy, 45, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday to unlawful possession of a weapon.
The court heard that police arrested Jarmy about 8pm on January 22 and took her to the Watch-house.
During a search of her handbag, they found a taser.
Jarmy told police she wasn’t aware it was illegal to have it.
The court was told Jarmy had a criminal history but she had not been in court for more than 10 years.
Solicitor Jun Pepito said another woman had given Jarmy the taser because she was concerned about her safety.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Jarmy $600 and a conviction was recorded.
