A woman who moved to Central Queensland for a new life has faced court on drugs charges after police raided her former home in the southeast.
Karissa Pearl Evans, 21, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to charges including two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possessing drug utensils and drug items.
The court heard that on the morning of April 24 last year, police executed a search warrant at Evans’ Caboolture residence.
Police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said prior to police conducting a search, Evans told them she had “weed in her bedroom.”
In Evans’ bedroom, police found a clip-seal bag containing three buds of cannabis
In the lounge room, officers found a clip-seal bag with 0.44g of methamphetamine in it.
Police also seized three bongs belonging to Evans and they found a grinder containing cannabis residue in her handbag.
Evans had a five-page criminal history which included prior drug offending, and she had previously been given a suspended jail sentence which had now expired.
Solicitor Jun Pepito said Evans had relocated from Caboolture to the Gladstone region where she was currently working.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan noted it had been almost 12 months since the police raid and Evans had not reoffended in that time.
Ms Buchanan fined Evans $500 and convictions were recorded.
