A popular fast food restaurant’s conveyor belt of fresh sandwiches was in full swing on Thursday, just hours after a horrifying knifepoint robbery.

On Wednesday night, around 8:55pm, a man in dark clothes, wearing gloves and with his face covered, entered Subway Gladstone in the Night Owl Centre on the Dawson Road, West Gladstone.

The man took out a kitchen knife and pointed it towards two staff members, then allegedly stole an unknown amount of money before running from the centre.

Police believe the man may have nearly run into two cars at the traffic lights as he was leaving the centre.

The man is described as caucasian, of solid build and very tall.

The Observer visited the scene of the alarming incident on Thursday afternoon, however staff declined to comment.

Likewise, several business owners and managers in the Night Owl Centre said they were aware of the frightening robbery however, declined to provide a statement.

The man at the centre of the alleged armed robbery was reportedly wearing a long sleeve dark coloured shirt, with thick white coloured stripes down both sleeves and a white ‘Nike’ motif across the back; a pair of black coloured Adidas brand tracksuit pants with ‘Adidas’ written in white on the outer left leg and a pair of brown coloured slip on style shoes.

Police are requesting anyone driving around the Night Owl centre Thursday night who may have dashcam footage or who saw a male person running from the centre to please contact Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote reference number QP2101672953.
