A Gladstone woman plagued by drug offending has endured eight home invasions in the past decade, a court has heard.

Taryn Jane Martin, 43, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on May 2 to possessing methamphetamines and drug driving.

The court heard that on February 11, Martin was caught driving on Chapple Street, Gladstone, with both meth and cannabis in her system and at the time, she was on a probationary licence.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Tanya Griffiths said after Martin was intercepted by police, she got out of the vehicle and was found to be in possession of two clip-seal bags containing “a minute” amount of meth.

The court heard Martin had a previous drug driving offence on her five-page traffic history from 2018, and previous drug offending on her six-page criminal history.

The court was further told that previously, Martin had received terms of imprisonment for her drug offending.

Solicitor Rio Ramos said Martin was last before a court in 2020 and she was currently a carer.

Ms Ramos said Martin suffered from PTSD, anxiety and panic attacks.

“In the last 10 years also, she’s had eight home invasions,” Ms Ramos said.

Acting Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Martin $850 and disqualified her from driving for four months.

A conviction was recorded.
