Craig John Mcleod was found by police bloodied and in possession of a knife on his way to slash his ex-girlfriend’s tyres, a court heard.

Mcleod, 46, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday to public intoxication and possessing a knife in a public place or school.

Prosecutor Senior Constable Carl Spargo told the court police were called to the front of Gladstone State High School around 11pm on September 25.

When police arrived they saw Mcleod, who was highly intoxicated, bleeding from his hand and asked how he sustained the injury.

Mcleod said the cut was from a large sharp knife in his backpack and a police search revealed a kitchen knife about 35 centimetres in length.

Police asked Mcleod if he had it out of his backpack at any point, to which Mcleod said he had and at one point was waving it around.

Mcleod told police he was on his way to his ex-partners place to slash her car tyres.

After Mcleod told police he had consumed a large amount of beer and wine throughout the night, he was taken back to Gladstone police station where he returned a blood-alcohol reading of .249 per cent.

He was issued a notice to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and fined Mcleod $600. A conviction was not recorded.
