A man who allegedly threatened to burn a woman’s house down and slice her neck, has made a bail application in a Central Queensland court.

The 27-year-old, who by law cannot be named, appeared in custody in Gladstone Magistrates Court on January 23 where he applied for bail.

He is charged with two counts each of contravening a domestic violence order and obstructing police.

The court heard the man was in a show cause situation because he had a previous conviction for contravening a domestic violence order.

It was told these alleged offences related to the man allegedly threatening to burn the aggrieved woman’s house down and allegedly telling her he was “going to slice your neck.”

The court also heard the aggrieved woman allegedly saw the man drive past her house.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Jessica McLaren said bail was opposed because the man was an unacceptable risk of committing further offences and interfering with witnesses.

Solicitor Cam Schroder said the man was employed and if granted bail he could live at his sister’s house.

“His work history has always been very good,” Mr Schroder said.

“He could report to police every day (if granted bail) - he could wear an ankle tracker.”

Magistrate Mary Buchanan said it was a “strong Crown case” and she refused bail.

The man’s matters were adjourned to February 5.
