Paramedics rush to suspected kite surfing accident

Emergency crews responded to Tannum Sands in Central Queensland where a kite surfer was injured.

A man has been flown to hospital from a Central Queensland beach after a serious kite surfing incident.

According to a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman, a kite surfer suffered trauma to their leg just before 2.12pm near Millennium Esplanade at Tannum Sands.

It’s understood the patient is a 44-year-old man who has suffered a significant leg injury.

Reports suggest the cord for the kite got caught around his leg, leading to a nasty fracture.

Upon arrival on scene, the on-board medical team provided assistance to the man.

The man was flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition where he will receive further scans and treatment for his injuries.
