LETTER: Time to take action on Australian fuel price rort

SO HOW does it feel to know your government is allowing you to be ripped off?

SO HOW does it feel to know your government is allowing you to be ripped off?

How? Well, oil prices are now down to $32 a barrel US.

The Australian dollar is at 72 cents against the USD, and you should be paying around 65 cents a litre for petrol and diesel. Petrol and diesel and all other oil-based products are having the prices held high. Is this price gouging?

Is the Federal Government allowing the oil companies to price gouge so they can get more tax?

Why won't the Federal Government hold an inquiry into the oil industry, and why won't they allow a royal commission into the oil industry?

Every item you use every day is affected in some way by oil prices. Oil and oil-based products should be declared as essential products and come under strict control.

If the oil companies don't like that, kick them out of the country and nationalise our oil reserves and refineries.

It is your fault that these companies get away with ripping you off. You are lazy and apathetic and won't have a go.

Write or ring your local members of parliament, write letters to the editor, hold protest meetings and take back control over products that are an essential part of everyday life.
