It’s deja vu for Gladstone residents who faced a similar scare in March after Covid-positive man visited popular cafe.
Covid clinics around the Central Highlands and Central Queensland are being inundated with phone inquiries as contact tracers work out where an infected flight attendant travelled in July.

The traffic queued up around the block and Gladstone’s Covid testing clinics extended their opening hours in March, after it was revealed an infected man had eaten at a local cafe.
A similar scenario looking likely of panning out Friday morning, with BITS Medical Centre staff at Boyne Island kept busy as the phone “rang off the hook”.
It followed Friday morning’s announcement a flight attendant, confirmed positive with the delta variant, flew between Brisbane, Longreach and Gladstone while infectious.
Member for Gladstone, Glenn Butcher, who travelled on one of the flights in question, said the flight attendant stayed overnight at the Mantra on Yaralla hotel on Sunday 11 July.
It remains to be seen whether Covid testing centres around Central Queensland will extend their opening hours again in response to the latest threat.
The Local Disaster Management Team in Gladstone is working closely with Central Queensland Health to set up a drive through testing clinic, with potential sites including Meteors Sports Club, CQU City Campus (Old Tafe) and the Gladstone Showgrounds.
