Heartbreak as teen dad dies in Ambrose car crash just days before Christmas

In a heartbreaking tragedy, a teen dad killed in a Central Queensland car crash on Friday leaves behind a one-year-old son and his partner is expecting their second child.

A teen dad killed in a Central Queensland car crash just days before Christmas leaves behind a one-year-old son and his partner is expecting their second child.

Wayne William Bellette, 18, died after the vehicle he was driving on the Bruce Highway at Ambrose on Friday, left the roadway shortly after 6.30pm and rolled near Gentle Annie Road.

Tragically Wayne, of Toolooa at Gladstone, sustained critical injuries and passed away at the scene.

Two passengers, a 17-year-old Toolooa boy and a 19-year-old South Gladstone man, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Gladstone Hospital for treatment.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Wayne’s family, and on Sunday morning the donations tally had reached $3190 of a $5000 target.

Fundraising organiser Krystal Pye said Wayne was a man with a bright future ahead of him, and “he loved his family more than anything.”

“His two babies are his entire world but unfortunately one will grow up not having the opportunity to meet his father,” Krystal said.

Krystal said all funds raised would go towards Wayne’s funeral and to “help lift a little bit of pressure off his family.”

“Every bit of support means the absolute world to us and we thank you for it,” Krystal said.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating Friday’s fatal crash and police have asked for any witnesses or those with dashcam vision from the area around the time of the incident, to contact Policelink on 131 444.
