Gladstone Regional Council’s Community Engagement and Neighbourhood Centres are on the move

“The precinct will be the first of its kind in Queensland, with local government partnering with the community to deliver human and social services.”

Gladstone Regional Council facilities are on the move as the grand opening of the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct approaches.

Services at GRC’s Community Engagement Centre at 142 Goondoon Street have paused to allow staff to complete the move.

The Neighbourhood Centre at 105 Toolooa Street will have a staggered close.

Mayor Matt Burnett said both centres would re-open to the community from the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct in mid-August.

“There will be a transition period for customers while the office is closed and referrals can still be provided over the phone,” Mr Burnett said.

“The precinct will be the first of its kind in Queensland, with local government partnering with the community to deliver human and social services.

“Being in the same location will strengthen relationships among partners, allowing ease of referrals and providing people with easy access to services in the one location.”

The precinct has been designed to strengthen Gladstone’s social service sector, foster inclusion, connectedness and increase access to resources and services.

It also offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy the parklands and gardens that have been developed specifically to enhance the buildings on site.
