The Gladstone Ports Corporation has revealed Port to Park registrations have surged past 2000 people.

Taking place on Saturday, the Port to Park fun run coincides with the 25th anniversary of Spinnaker Park and first birthday of GPC’s East Shores 1B parklands.

On Friday, CQU Gladstone Marina Campus will transform into the Port to Park race office, with volunteers on-hand and armed with race packs to distribute ahead of the Port City’s new-look fun run.

The Port to Park Race Pack includes a disposable timing bib and a free race shirt. All participants have to do is take their e-ticket and valid ID to collect their race pack.

GPC COO Craig Walker said the race would boost community spirit while celebrating some of GPC’s biggest parkland milestones including the 25th anniversary of Spinnaker Park and the first birthday of East Shores 1B.

“GPC has been working around-the-clock with our event partners and sponsors to bring this event to life and we’re all very excited to see locals lace up on Sunday morning,” Mr Walker said.

“A lot of effort has gone into creating the new-look fun run, everything from a new racecourse to the race shirts and of course the birthday bash at East Shores 1B awaiting runners at the end of their race.

“Sunday will be a fantastic time for us to celebrate our parklands as a community and to celebrate our health and wellbeing.”

Participants are encouraged to be race ready and leave scooters, bikes and furry friends at home.

“The most important part about Port to Park is that it’s a fun run and we’re encouraging our participants to walk, run, skip or jog whether you’re in your activewear or a pink tutu,” Mr Walker said.

“There are plenty of prizes up for grabs including random prize draws at the finish line.”

The race office is open from 7.30am Friday until 6.30pm and Saturday from 8am until noon at the CQUniversity Marina Campus, Leo Zussino building (Bryan Jordan Drive).

Participants can also collect their race packs before their race if they arrive early.
