Police have charged a 50-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man with murder after the alleged stabbing death of a man, 24, in Central Queensland over the Easter long weekend.
The deceased’s man’s mother, who can be identified as Lee-Ann Rae Forrest, 50, and her 20-year-old son, Alex William Forrest were released from hospital overnight and both charged with one count each of murder.
Detectives allege the 24-year-old deceased man, Cameron Paul Forrest died from fatal stab wounds.
Lee-Ann Forrest’s matter was heard in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon, her appearance was not required and no bail application was made.
Her matter was adjourned until June 14, with prosecutor Tanya Griffiths stating police would be preparing an “extensive” brief of evidence.
Alex Forrest, 20, appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning and made no application for bail, with a brief of evidence ordered by the court.
Ms Forrest was in Gladstone Hospital and her son was in Rockhampton Hospital before they were discharged on Tuesday evening.
It is understood they both suffered injuries and were treated in stable conditions.
Police attended the Blaxland Court, Glen Eden address on Sunday morning, about 11am, after a requested welfare check and found the man deceased, and his mother and brother injured.
While many neighbours were away for the Easter long weekend, one neighbour said they heard loud noises which could have been screaming coming from the property late Saturday night.
Police on Tuesday said they had examined the crime scene and investigators were waiting to speak with the two people who remained in hospital.
