Firefighter injured in house blaze at Gladstone

Police are investigating the cause of a fire at an abandoned Central Qld home where a firefighter was injured while fighting the blaze. VIDEO, UPDATES

Gladstone Police are investigating the cause of a fire at an abandoned Gladstone home on Wednesday morning.

A firefighter was burnt on the face while battling the blaze and was later taken to Gladstone Hospital for treatment in a stable condition.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said seven crews were initially called to 1 Margaret St about 7.45am.

By 8.30am three crews were still trying to extinguish the fire at the abandoned one-storey home which was “fully alight”.

The fire was extinguished at 8.36am, but fire crews remain monitoring the home.

Police have declared it a crime scene.
