EIGHT not-for-profit organisations in the Gladstone region will receive more than $308,000 from the QGC Sustainable Communities Fund.

The fund was set up by Queensland Gas Corporation, developer of the Queensland Curtis LNG Project, as part of the company's commitment to communities in the Gladstone, Western Downs, Banana and North Burnett regions.

Bindaree Lodge Chairman Christine Bailey, whose organisation received $50,000 for the installation of solar panels, said the funding would greatly improve the 40-bed aged care facility.

"Bindaree Lodge is a not-for-profit organisation and this is a tremendous financial boost to help us cut down on electricity costs at our Boyne Island aged care facility," she said.

"All at Bindaree are very appreciative of the generous assistance from QGC."

QGC's Vice President Corporate, Brett Smith, said the money was allocated from the most recent round of community applications to the $6 million fund.
