A teenager has died in a tragic crash on Christmas Eve on a major Central Queensland Highway.

A teenager has died following a Christmas Eve crash on a major Central Queensland Highway.
Initial information indicates a silver Nissan Navara dual cab ute was travelling north on the Leichhardt Highway about 8.45am.
The ute was about 30km north of Banana before it left the highway and struck a tree.
A passing motorist stopped to begin first aid before emergency services arrived, however the 19-year-old driver from Blackwater died at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Police are urging anyone witnesses, especially those with dashcam footage of the ute in its travels to come forward.
