Central Highlands business owners Steven and Shari Hancox have expressed their excitement after 5G technology was rolled out in Biloela.
Ms Hancox said Biloela Mechanical and Agricultural Services was excited to have access to the new network.
“The higher capacity, and increased bandwidth compared to 4G will help with the number of devices we currently have connected to the network,” she said.
“Like many businesses, and people in general, we are transitioning to cloud base platforms, 5G is essential to the successful implementation.”
Telstra Regional General Manager Rachel Cliffe said it was not only Biloela to benefit from 5G’s capabilities.
“We’ve also started rolling out Telstra 5G in Calliope and Middlemount and recently completed upgrades to our mobile site to bring our new network to the town for the first time,” she said.
Ms Cliffe said bringing Telstra’s 5G network to Biloela, Calliope and Middlemount for the first time was a game changer.
“It means customers with 5G devices will be able to experience faster download speeds, greater capacity during the busiest times on the network and better connectivity,” she said.
“When we upgrade these sites to Telstra 5G, we’re also upgrading capacity on the 4G network, which means better connectivity and less congestion on the mobile network in these places when it’s busier.
“We’re continually expanding our 5G network with up to 60 new Telstra 5G sites built every week across the country.
“We know these mobile network upgrades will make a big difference to locals and visitors and for businesses who rely on connectivity for tourism and trade in these places.”
