International engineering, design and advisory company Aurecon is increasing its commitment to the Gladstone region by aiming to double its team and presence over the next two years.

Significant announcements have been made regarding Gladstone as a hydrogen precinct, a renewable energy zone and modern manufacturing destination with advanced technology and large-scale investment in new projects.

Industry and the Queensland Government expects to deliver billions of dollars to the local economy and support thousands of jobs to enable the transition to net zero emissions for Australia and the world’s economies.

Aurecon’s extensive experience in working with government and private sector clients to deliver major resources, energy and infrastructure projects in the region means it is well-placed to play a key role in the new developments, building on its existing portfolio of work.

Regional managing director for Queensland, Evelyn Storey, said Aurecon was growing its team in Gladstone to support the growth and sustainability of its clients’ operations and projects and Gladstone’s local industries and communities.

“We want to see Gladstone reap the benefits of the opportunities for current and future industries, and we are focused on a continued vision for Gladstone as a thriving community with a sustained heavy industry and high tech workforce,” Ms Storey said.

“To prepare for this, we are bolstering our footprint in the area.”

As part of the deployment of existing and new technology, and after being part of the Gladstone community for more than 30 years, Aurecon is investing in the capacity to bring more jobs to the area by moving to a more extensive and fit-for-purpose premises at 130 Auckland Street, Gladstone.

“Increasing our footprint starts with setting ourselves up with the infrastructure required to grow our team and service capabilities,” Ms Storey said.

“Our new premises will house our current 35 employees and allow a quick scaling to double our size over the next two years. This is an exciting time for Aurecon in the Gladstone community.”

Aurecon is also announcing Gladstone’s new office leader will be Sue Allan, joining Aurecon from the Australian resources sector.

Ms Allan has worked across an array of capability areas within complex operating assets, including projects, technology, operations, production, business improvement and HSE, and across commodities including gold, copper, lead, zinc, iron ore, coal and alumina.

“I’m also pleased to announce Sue Allan will be joining as the Gladstone office’s team leader,” Ms Storey said.

“She brings a wealth of experience from the resources sector to build our team here and engage with the rest of the sector.”

Ms Allan said joining Aurecon was an exciting opportunity because Gladstone was on the edge of an enormous industrial boom in Central Queensland.

“I look forward to bringing more jobs to the Gladstone area and bringing more Aurecon investment to the area,” Ms Allan said.
