The first week back from the Easter school holidays has ended on a low for a Lockyer Valley high school.
Emergency services were called to an incident outside Laidley State High School on Edward St about 8.30am Thursday, where it’s believe a young male had been struck by a vehicle.
In a statement the Queensland Department of Education confirmed that a student was involved in the collision.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics transported one stable male teenager to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The QAS spokeswoman said another stable male patient, believed to be the driver, was taken to Laidley Health Service after the incident involving a bus and pedestrian.
The circumstances in the lead up to the incident at this time unknown.
A Queensland Health spokeswoman confirmed that the teenage patient was discharged from Princess Alexandra Hospital on Thursday night.
The Department of Education spokesperson said a “small number” of students witnessed the incident and that the school was providing support and counselling as required.
“The school community offers their thoughts and best wishes to the student and their family
for a speedy recovery,” The spokesperson said.
