In a little more than a week, Gatton’s ANZ branch will no longer exist.
Following the major bank’s announcement its Railway Street branch would close on August 24, the bank has also changed its ATM at Plainland.
A new Armaguard Group-branded ATM was installed at the Caltex Petrol station at Plainland, which allows ANZ customers to withdraw money without fees.
An ANZ spokesman said as part of the bank’s agreement with the Armaguard group, the ATM at plainland petrol station had been changed.
The rebrand is part of ANZ’s agreement with Armaguard, which will result in more than 900 of ANZ’s ATMs changing brand name.
“ANZ card holders are able to use this ATM, along with others in the atm-x network across Australia, fee-free,” the spokesman said.
“ANZ customers in the Lockyer Valley and surrounding regions will have fee-free access to many ANZ Smart ATMs, the atm-x network and additional ATMs operated by the other major banks to meet their banking needs.”
The announcement that the Gatton branch would close during August shocked locals and businesses, who will be forced to travel to Toowoomba or Ipswich to do over-the-counter banking.
“In recent years, we’ve seen an increasing number of customers turning to online and digital banking, with 70 per cent of customers across ANZ last year preferring digital banking options,” the spokesman said.
“Customers are not using branches like they used to, with in-branch transactions dropping on average by 50 per cent over the past four years.”
