After receiving a fine for teaching his 13-year-old daughter to drive in Grantham, Jack Glomaxx says he might have to take her to a golf course instead.
Glomaxx was pulled over by police on Victor Street in Grantham on April 9 at 8.50pm, where he was a passenger.
When police looked inside the vehicle, they saw the 13-year-old at the wheel of a Ford Falcon.
On Monday, May 17, Police prosecutor sergeant At Windsor told the, Glomaxx exited from the passenger side of the vehicle, and was found to be unlicensed.
“He had been teaching his 13-year-old daughter how to drive a vehicle in the event she needed to drive during an emergency,” Sergeant Windsor said.
The 13-year-old did not hold a drivers permit, sergeant Windsor said.
Glomaxx pleaded guilty to one charge of permit another to drive while unlicenced.
Glomaxx represented himself in court and said in hindsight he realised he shouldn’t have been teaching his daughter to drive.
“I’ll maybe have to take her to a golf course and let her drive around in the golf buggy learn to drive,” he said.
“I realise I shouldn’t have done it. It was all my fault.”
Magistrate Roger Stark reminded Glomaxx that 13-year-olds were too young to drive and noted his dated history.
“She’s obviously a bit too young to be learning to drive … that’s very young,” Mr Stark said.
Glomaxx was fined $300 and a conviction was not recorded.
