A Plainland student has won up to $5000 in prizes for academic and community excellence.

Harrison Thomas from Faith Lutheran College in Plainland received the award through Ampol’s Best All Rounder initiative.

The award was presented to Harrison for having displayed academic excellence and a charitable streak.

Harrison previously raised $5000 for HeartKids and advocated with Cancer Council and disability support organisations.

The program, having celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, gifted him a $2000 cash grant, a $1000 AmpolCash gift card and a $2000 grant for his school.

In a media release, Acting Deputy Principal of Faith Lutheran College in Plainland, Reid Dobson said the college was incredibly proud of Harrison’s achievement.

“We are excited to celebrate this recognition of a student who is authentic, humble and honest, embodying the very best of our community,” Ms Dobson said.
