Man, 84, killed in Warrego Highway highway crash horror

An 84-year-old man has died and an elderly woman has suffered serious injuries after a horror highway crash. It was followed by another on the same highway.

An 84-year-old man has died and an elderly woman injured after a horror crash on the Warrego Highway near Gatton.

Police said a Toyota Corolla was travelling along the highway when it left the road and rolled just after 3pm at Ringwood.

The driver, a 69-year-old Rangeville woman, was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with serious injuries while the passenger in the vehicle, an 84-year-old Rangeville man, was declared deceased at the scene.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to contact them.

The man and woman were trapped inside the vehicle, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said.

The QFES spokesman said four crews arrived on scene at around 3.20pm.

The first occupant was successfully removed from the vehicle and is in a stable condition, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

A QAS spokesman later confirmed a stable female patient was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital.

A second incident caused further delays on the Warrego Highway near Hatton Vale, with reports a single vehicle has crashed into a tree just after 4pm.

Paramedics and the rescue helicopter were assessing a patient following the single-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway eastbound at 4.10pm.

Motorist were warned to expect delays and avoid the area if possible as the highway was completely closed at Hatton Vale for the rescue helicopter to land.

A patient was being airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition from the scene.
