Multiple rushed to hospital following snake bites, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley

Multiple people have been rushed to hospital after being bitten by snakes in the Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley regions.

Two people have been rushed to Toowoomba Hospital after being bitten by snakes during separate incidents on Monday afternoon, May 6.

A LifeFlight rescue helicopter spokeswoman said a man in his 40s was bushwalking in a rural location in the Lockyer Valley when an unidentified snake lashed out and bit him on the lower half of his right leg.

The man managed to call triple-0 about 11am.

“The pilot landed the chopper in a clearing near the ridge line and the aeromedical rescue crew trekked around 600m into the bush to locate the man,” she said.

“He was treated at the scene before being stretchered out and flown to Toowoomba … by the Toowoomba based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew.”
The man was in a stable condition.

Hours later another person was bitten by a snake south of Toowoomba at Top Camp.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the patient was transported to hospital in a stable condition.
